1. Espresso from a Manual Machine

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Grind the Beans

    • Use a fine grind suitable for espresso.

  • Step 2: Measure and Tamp

    • Place 18-20 grams of coffee into the portafilter.

    • Tamp the coffee evenly with medium pressure.

  • Step 3: Preheat the Machine

    • Run water through the machine without coffee to warm it up.

  • Step 4: Extract the Espresso

    • Attach the portafilter and start the extraction.

    • Aim for a 25-30 second extraction time.

  • Step 5: Serve Immediately

    • Enjoy your espresso while it's hot.

Tips:

  • Freshly roasted beans yield the best flavor. Adjust grind size for balanced taste.

  • Consistent tamping ensures even extraction.

2. Pour Over

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Heat the Water

    • Bring water to 195-205°F (90-96°C).

  • Step 2: Prepare the Filter

    • Place a paper filter in the dripper and rinse with hot water.

  • Step 3: Add Coffee Grounds

    • Use 25 grams of medium-fine ground coffee.

  • Step 4: Bloom

    • Pour enough water to wet the grounds (about 50 grams).

    • Let it sit for 30 seconds.

  • Step 5: Continue Pouring

    • Slowly pour water in a circular motion until you reach 400 grams.

  • Step 6: Serve

    • Once the dripping stops, remove the dripper and enjoy.

  • Use a gooseneck kettle for better control.

  • Freshly grind your coffee for optimal flavor.

3. Drip Machine

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Fill with Water

    • Add cold, filtered water to the reservoir.

  • Step 2: Place the Filter

    • Insert a paper or permanent filter into the basket.

  • Step 3: Add Coffee Grounds

    • Use a medium grind; about 1-2 tablespoons per 6 ounces of water.

  • Step 4: Start Brewing

    • Turn on the machine.

  • Step 5: Wait and Serve

    • Once brewing is complete, pour and enjoy.

5. French Press

Instructions:

  1. Empty French Press:

    • Make sure everything is clean, especially screen.

  2. Adding Coffee Grounds:

    • Measure coffee into press, determined by how many cups wanted. 2 Tbsp per 8oz of water.

  3. Pouring Hot Water:

    • Pour water just off boil (195-205°F) by a few minutes over coffee.

    • Pour till the water level reaches specified point, be sure to leave some room.

  4. Stirring the Mixture:

    • Gently spoon stir the coffee and water gently.

  5. Steeping Time:

    • Steep for 4 minutes.

  6. Plunging:

    • press down the plunger slowly with consistent speed

  7. Serve Immediately!
